January 18

1926 January 18th Monday

Cloudy most of day and towards evening real foggy, misty and cold, and started to snow before bed time. Will went to Tom’s to mail letters, but he was gone to Winner, so came home, went to Dick Schmidt’s, Abe Elshire’s where he had dinner, on to Curt Elshire’s, and finally Roundys, where he got a wagon and load of oats. William looked at traps and went with Ralph, Lorin Walton and another guy to the Store. The men hauled hay in evening. I did ordinary work. Louise to school.

1936 January 18th Saturday

Sun shone but in p.m. got cloudy, it was cold all day, very cold in evening. I got meals, clean the front room, sewed three slips for pillows out of an old outing sheet and hemmed the tablecloth I got in Valentine last summer and looked over junk in west room. The men chored and gave cattle some cane and then they cleaned the Davenport by taking it apart to the front porch and putting it together again. Will fed chickens, got mail at store and went horseback because our car won’t start on account of battery. Frank and LeMoyne got two loads hay north of Strids, gave it to cattle and loaded a load of cane.

1946 January 18th Friday

Bright nice day. Men fed cows and bulls and W.D. clean the coop, then he went home to take Billie to Doctor on account of sore neck but got home before noon and Billie better so no go and stayed home. Will chored and got the mail and rested. I got meals and laid down but only for a few minutes, played solitaire and read some.
