March 24

1926 March 24th Wednesday

Wind blew quite strong N.W. all night so that everything indoors was covered with dust and continued to blow all day but sprinkled and spit some snow, so wasn’t too dusty and got cold towards eve. Sun shone once in p.m. Will rounded in cattle and William was sick so only chored. Mr. Wagner came to-day and went home at 4 p.m. Louise to school and on her return she ate supper as we just finished eating, first meal since breakfast. I cut out my brown dress but was so dusty and cold I couldn’t sew. Not many scholars at school on account of wind and sand-storm.

1936 March 24th Tuesday

Partly cloudy and cold but the men managed to clean north-side of barn and chore. Will had a painful right knee so he finished his chores and went to Jesse Haisch Sale at Mosher. Henry Arcoren came to see Will about his cattle and said they leave Thursday for their new home. I got meals and cut the hog-head to cook.

1946 March 24th Sunday

Bright beautiful day and warm. I got eats and Will chored. We went to 10:30 a.m. church and Will visited with Seth and Stanley Whiting while I, Carol Jean and Norma Fay went to church. Seth has a new baby boy and he will be named Ronnie Eugene to be baptized next Sunday. Will and I came through cattle on State and Wagner land but no calves to-day. We lunched but Will fed calves first at bull-pen. We went to Strid land in p.m., looked at wheat. Rye and alfalfa and this crop we did not harvest last year so Will will disc it in and we hope for a crop this year. We looked at mill near South part of Big Pasture and on through Wm. Pierce pasture to Highway, on to Furreys, and Will went on to Flood place to where Billie, Harley and Harry were filling in a soft spot in the road. They came back and we had a lunch and came home to chore, eat and play solitaire and read. Saw Lew and Mrs. McKee on road east of Schuppans. They are to put 30 head of cattle on our pasture this summer.

1956 March 24th Saturday

Bright and nice. Got up to 83 above in sun in p.m. Vere and Chester gave cattle hay and had dinner and went in Pick Up to Stanley Whiting’s to dehorn and brand and earmark coming yearlings and 5 young bulls were branded also. Chester did chores and they stayed home so not so bad for Will and I this evening.
