June 22-26, 1926

June 22, 1926, Tuesday

Bright cool a.m., a shower in places in p.m. but beautiful at times. Will went to Lewis cattle and home for dinner and in p.m. William, who had dinner with Frank Ruble at Dick Schmidt’s, went through our cattle and drove out Lewis’s cattle. George elied corn all day. In the eve or late p.m. Rena, Helen, Charlotte & Edward came and Louise and I went along to Store and got the mail, then they went home via Cousens. We did ordinary work and sewed a little. Mr. & Mrs. Swan Nelson stopped as they lost their horses and were looking for them.

Quite a nice day. Louise washed the clothes and I helped a little as the other work of caring for chickens and meals takes most of my time. She mopped the kitchen after washing a very large load and was real tired in the evening. William, Will & Frank Ruble got our cattle out of Lewis’s and had dinner here and in p.m. worked our cattle and drove them out north. George elied all day. Wm. Smith came for eggs from Wisenbergers in p.m.

Louise ironed all the clothes and mended in p.m. and washed some windows upstairs. I did the work of meals and made lemon-pie and wrote letters and fixed orders as Will ordered a pair of made to order Boots. Jake Wisenberger brought crate to be filled and rode to store with Will & George to mail letters after supper.

June 25, 1926, Friday

Rained a little in night, a very nice day after a few clouds in morn passed away. Will & George went over north to put in another 1/2 mile of fence and Mr. H. L. Hepburn helped some, came with them in eve for the night. William started to eli corn on Moore’s. Ed, LeMoyne Kenneth, Seth, Rena and Charlotte came for the car to go to Valentine and Louise went along. The boys took team home. I did ordinary work and finished a dress. Mr. Elshire and Bill came selling groceries. Mr. Menz, Ada & Gale came for corn.
