1946 June 12th Wednesday
Was very strong wind from Northwest and very much lightning about midnight when we got in from O’Kreek Legion Meeting. Men met at Day School and women at Miller home. We came home before lunch. Sun shone until in p.m. showers and again bright evening. Will, Hank and Van Epps put axle on power sweep, and Hank swept some hay away from stacks blown off. Van Epps home after dinner and Will, Hank and I started to Winner. Roy and Babe Drey were going also but east of Pierce’s we couldn’t go so took fence down and went into Pierce’s pasture then on highway via Wm Abbotts but he was at McCormicks putting water in his car. The other members of his family were at home. A bull was out with cows in River Pasture so Hank got him into Bull-pen then he and Will went to Whiting Store and Hank went along. He mailed letters, got mail, groceries and 5 young leghorn roosters to fry tomorrow. I did usual work and plan that tomorrow Elsie can come to work.
